Essential Steps:

1. Put on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to evaluate the environment according to the project plan and use disinfectant on the affected area.

2. Collect medical waste and impacted materials, and place biohazardous items in boxes for secure transportation and disposal.

3. Eliminate carpeting or tiles where fluid is present underneath to sanitize and disinfect the exposed subfloor and surfaces. Disinfect the exposed surfaces and use fogging in the affected area if there is an odor concern or for infection control.

   
   

DFW medical waste is captured by opening the affected carpet with a razor past the rim of the contamination plume. This blood and body fluid affected carpet is treated as DFW medical waste and disposed of in a compliant manner.

The affected material is cut and folded to fit inside the DFW medical waste disposal box for safe transport and compliant disposal.
